Full-height wooden shutters are by far our biggest-selling style, thanks to the symmetry and sophistication they bring to any door or window they grace. In many cases it’s a good idea to fit a mid rail for practical and aesthetics reasons.
For tall panels a mid rail helps make for a stronger shutter, reducing the risk of warping. It also adds versatility, as the upper and lower slats can be opened independently. Finally, when the mid rail lines up with the mid-frame of the door or window beneath, it tends to give a cleaner finish (and keeps any unsightly handles from view).
